Chelsea must generate over £60 million from player sales before UEFA will allow them to register new signings for next season’s Champions League, according to The Times.
The club is facing mounting pressure due to UEFA’s strict financial regulations, which require a balance between spending and income—particularly for registering players on the Champions League ‘List A’.

Despite earning around £60 million from their recent Club World Cup campaign, that revenue cannot be used to offset the registration costs under UEFA’s rules.

The Blues are now racing against time to sell players or risk being unable to include their summer arrivals in European competitions. This financial squeeze follows a record-breaking fine imposed by UEFA last week for prior breaches.
Currently, new signings such as Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Estevão Willian, Dario Essugo, and Mamadou Sarr are all ineligible for UEFA competition until Chelsea meets the required sales threshold.
Additionally, previously signed players like Romeo Lavia and Wesley Fofana have yet to be registered on List A, further complicating the club’s European squad plans.
