The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a significant increase in prize money for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), according to DAILY POST.
The champions of this year’s tournament will now receive $1 million, while the runners-up and third-placed teams will earn $500,000 and $350,000 respectively.

CAF confirmed that the prize increase will also extend to bonuses for all participating nations.

A total of 12 teams will compete for continental glory at the WAFCON 2024 finals.
Group A: Morocco (hosts), Zambia, Senegal, DR Congo
Group B: Nigeria, Tunisia, Botswana, Algeria
Group C: South Africa (defending champions), Ghana, Mali, Tanzania
The tournament kicks off on Saturday, with hosts Morocco facing Zambia. Nigeria’s Super Falcons begin their campaign against Tunisia on Sunday in Casablanca.
Defending champions South Africa will open their title defence against Ghana’s Black Queens next Monday.
Nigeria remains the most decorated team in WAFCON history, having won the competition nine times.
