Veteran Nigerian actress, Tola Oladokun, has opened up about the kind of roles she accepts in movies and how her values and family influenced those choices.
In an interview shared by Oyinmomo TV, she addressed how her husband’s strictness may have affected the roles she takes. When asked if his views limited her from taking romantic parts, she replied, “I’m not called for such. I’m called only for mother roles. Maybe because I have been called twice for such roles and I rejected it. Probably that is the reason. So when featuring me, they give me the role of a mother. I don’t romance or do a movie of a witch.”
Her decision, she said, is not just based on her husband’s views but also her upbringing and personal principles.

When asked if avoiding romantic or witch roles was deliberate or due to circumstances, she explained, “When I told my father about my love for this profession, he said, I shouldn’t do what I can’t handle.”
Tola Oladokun has become known for her strong emotional presence in motherly roles, a part she continues to embrace with pride.
Her story reflects how values, family influence, and personal discipline have shaped her journey in Nollywood.
