Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has opened up about Nigeria’s hard-fought Unity Cup victory over Ghana, admitting the match was driven more by pride and ego than just competition.

Ndidi, who played a key role in Nigeria’s triumph in May, featured in both games against Ghana and Jamaica as the Super Eagles clinched the trophy for a third time.

“The Ghana game was more about settling our ego—we had to win that one. Even if we lost the final, that game mattered the most.”

Ndidi also praised the crowd turnout during the tournament:

“The turnout was good. Ghanaians came out, Jamaicans came out. I feel like Nigerians wanted to see how it would go first, maybe show more support in the next edition. But the turnout from other countries was massive.”
