Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney believes Barcelona ran out of ideas as they were knocked out of the Champions League by Inter Milan.
After a thrilling 3-3 draw in the first leg, Tuesday’s semi-final second leg saw Inter take an early two-goal lead through Lautaro Martinez and a Hakan Calhanoglu penalty. Barcelona responded with goals from Eric Garcia, Dani Olmo, and Raphinha to seize the advantage.
But Inter struck back late—Francesco Acerbi equalised in stoppage time, and Davide Frattesi netted the extra-time winner to seal a dramatic 4-3 win on the night and a 7-6 aggregate triumph.

Speaking to Amazon Prime after the match, Rooney said:
“Once Inter got the equaliser, it looked like they were the team that were going to push. Barcelona ran out of ideas at the end. I’m not usually quick to praise goalkeepers, but some of the saves Yann Sommer made were excellent.”
