Nollywood actor Tobi Makinde has finally cleared the air regarding the rumors flying around about his relationship with his boss and mentor, Funke Akindele.
For weeks, fans have been gossiping and asking questions after noticing that the famous actress and filmmaker was noticeably absent from Tobi’s recent wedding. Because the two have worked closely together for years—especially on hit projects like Jenifa’s Diary and A Tribe Called Judah—many people assumed they had a serious falling out.
However, during a recent interview, Tobi shut down the rumors once and for all, explaining exactly what happened behind the scenes.
Why Funke Akindele Wasn’t There
When the interviewer directly asked Tobi if there was any problem between them, the actor laughed it off and stated that everything is completely fine.
According to him, her absence was purely due to work timing and nothing personal.
“I’ve addressed this over and over again, there’s no problem,” Tobi clarified. “Her not coming to my wedding is totally understandable. It was a period when she was promoting her film.”
“She Takes Her Craft Very Seriously”
Tobi went on to praise Funke’s incredible work ethic, reminding fans how intense things get whenever she is preparing to drop a new movie. He explained that everyone who knows her understands how focused she gets during film promotions, leaving her with absolutely no free time.
“To be honest, we all know how it is when she’s promoting her film,” Tobi added. “She takes her craft very seriously.”
With this statement, Tobi has made it clear that there is zero bad blood or “beef” between them. It was simply a matter of a tight work schedule.
