Actress Tope Osoba describes how she discovered a lump in her breast during a self-examination.In her account of her battle with breast cancer,

She was 39 years old at the time and touched her body to find the strange growth.  She sought medical assistance because she was worried about the development, but her doctor initially rejected the lump, blaming it on her childbearing age.  Even after being reassured, Osoba was still uncomfortable and made the decision to demand additional medical testing.

Following her insistence, additional tests were conducted, which confirmed the presence of cancer. The diagnosis came as a shock, and she faced emotional distress, fearing the worst. Among her greatest concerns was the possibility of undergoing a mastectomy. The uncertainty surrounding her health left her deeply worried, and she struggled to come to terms with the reality of her condition. However, medical assessments later revealed that the cancer was contained and had not spread beyond its initial location.

Osoba proceeded with treatment, undergoing surgery and radiation therapy. She said: At the time, I was 39 years old, I discovered the issue one day while touching my body. I felt something on my breast resembling a bean that hadn’t been there before.
