Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye could be hit with a four-year ban after being referred to Italy’s disciplinary commission for alleged sporting fraud.

Unlike a standard betting violation, the 25-year-old is being investigated for allegedly manipulating a specific in-game event — receiving a yellow card intentionally.

Okoye was booked for time-wasting in the 64th minute during Udinese’s 2-1 win over Lazio at the Dacia Arena on March 11, 2024.

Italian authorities suspect the caution was deliberate, placing the Nigeria international and three of his friends under formal investigation.

Okoye joined Udinese from Watford in the summer of 2023.
