Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has been released from hospital after receiving treatment for an acute case of gastroenteritis.
The 26-year-old France captain missed training on Tuesday due to a fever and was absent from Wednesday’s 1-1 FIFA Club World Cup draw against Al-Hilal in Miami. Real Madrid initially announced on Thursday that Mbappe had been hospitalized, but later confirmed he had been discharged and had returned to the club’s training base in Palm Beach.

In a statement, the club said: “Mbappe will continue with specific medical treatment and will gradually return to team activity.”

Gastroenteritis is a gut infection that can cause symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhoea.
Real Madrid’s next match is scheduled for Sunday against Pachuca at 20:00 BST. If Mbappe is not fit in time, he could make his return in the final group-stage game against Salzburg on 26 June.
Mbappe joined Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer and has had an impressive debut season, scoring 43 goals in 56 appearances across all competitions. Under new manager Xabi Alonso, who succeeded Carlo Ancelotti, Mbappe helped Real win both the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup in his first season with the club.
