After taking the lead, Madrid played with more control, while Girona posed little threat. Vinicius Junior started to dominate his wing and came close to doubling the lead, hitting the crossbar with a powerful shot from distance. The Brazilian was determined to break his La Liga goal drought.
In the final ten minutes, Vinicius got on the scoresheet, finishing coolly from Kylian Mbappe’s clever pass to seal the win for Madrid.
