The Premier League has officially announced the final nominees for the 2024/25 Player and Manager of the Season awards.

Unsurprisingly, Liverpool dominate the shortlists following their dominant title-winning campaign. Players from four other clubs also feature in the Player of the Season category, marking a shift in the award’s landscape after five years of Manchester City dominance. City, after a disappointing season, have no nominees in either category.

Meanwhile, five managers are in contention for the Manager of the Season award, with Pep Guardiola set to relinquish the title after winning it two years running.

2024/25 Premier League Player of the Season Nominees

  • Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest)
A standout performer in Forest’s unexpected European push, Gibbs-White has been crucial in midfield. His rise has even sparked interest from Manchester City and earned him a spot in the England squad.
  • Ryan Gravenberch (Liverpool)
Once a fringe figure, Gravenberch has thrived under Arne Slot as Liverpool’s deep-lying midfielder. He started every game in their title-winning campaign, contributing key assists and anchoring the midfield.
  • Alexander Isak (Newcastle United)
With 23 goals to his name, Isak is second in the league’s scoring charts. His clinical finishing and all-round play have reportedly led to a £150m valuation from Newcastle.
  • Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford)
Mbeumo stepped up following Ivan Toney’s departure, excelling in both wide and central roles. He has tallied 18 goals and 7 assists, becoming Brentford’s main attacking threat.
  • Declan Rice (Arsenal)
Arsenal’s sole nominee, Rice has combined his usual defensive steel with increased creativity. A consistent performer, he has become a leader in Mikel Arteta’s side during a mixed campaign.
  • Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
Salah has delivered a sensational season, scoring 28 goals and providing 18 assists. Despite uncertainty around his future, he has put together one of the most complete Premier League seasons ever.
  • Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)
Back to his best, Van Dijk has been a rock in Liverpool’s defence. The 2018/19 Player of the Season winner returned to top form under Slot and was instrumental in Liverpool’s title run.
  • Chris Wood (Nottingham Forest)
The veteran striker has enjoyed a career-best season, netting 20 goals to power Forest’s rise. At 33, he’s playing some of his finest football.

2024/25 Premier League Manager of the Season Nominees

  • Thomas Frank (Brentford)
Frank has guided Brentford to their best-ever Premier League finish, defying expectations and building an exciting, attack-minded team.
  • Eddie Howe (Newcastle United)
Newcastle are on course for their highest league finish since 1997. Howe’s tactical acumen and big-game wins have the Magpies chasing second place.
  • Nuno Espirito Santo (Nottingham Forest)
With two of his players on the Player of the Season shortlist, Nuno’s managerial credentials speak for themselves. He’s turned Forest into surprise European contenders after being tipped for a relegation battle.
  • Vitor Pereira (Wolverhampton Wanderers)
Taking over in December with Wolves in 19th, Pereira sparked a remarkable turnaround. Ten wins in 20 matches have made him a fan favorite at Molineux.
  • Arne Slot (Liverpool)
Tasked with succeeding Jurgen Klopp, Slot has exceeded all expectations. He led Liverpool to the title in dominant fashion, boasting the league’s highest goal tally and just two losses before sealing the championship.
