Award-winning Nigerian makeup artist Hakeem Onilogbo, better known by his stage name Hakeem Effect, has talked candidly about his wife’s difficulties conceiving children.
People would send messages to his staff telling his wife to get pregnant, he disclosed in an emotional interview with Biola Bayo for her Talk to B show. People used to refer to his wife as his mother at one point, he claimed, and some even accused him of utilizing her womb for religious purposes.

As a result of the constant bullying and pressure, the couple opted for surrogacy, and as God would have it, his wife became pregnant when the surrogate was six months pregnant.
“Tell your boss’s wife to go and conceive. A woman’s pride in marriage is her children, not following him around. It got to a stage people used to call her Akeem’s mother and a lot of people started saying I have used her womb because immediately she came into my life, everything changed.
So, we had to go for surrogacy. By the time our surrogate was six months pregnant, my wife was already pregnant”.
Hakeem, touched, on his previous relationship, revealing that he was with his ex-wife for close to 10 years, but they didn’t marry. He stated that though his ex was a good and better wife, his current wife is the best.
There is a saying that behind every successful man is a woman. I was married for about 10 years before meeting her. My ex-wife was a good and better wife, but God gave me the best.
