Well-known Yoruba actress, Adekemi Taofeek has talked about a terrible experience she had with an unidentified film director who allegedly tried to force her into a sexual connection.

In an open interview on Kunleafod TV’s official YouTube channel, Taofeek described how a career chance swiftly devolved into a terrible circumstance.

“One day, a director called me and said he needed me to work with him on a movie set, and I agreed with him,” the actress explained. “When I got to the movie location, I did not see him, and when I called him on the phone, he told me that he went for a job.”

According to Taofeek, she discovered upon arrival that she had been placed in the same hotel room that the director had booked for himself—a situation that immediately raised concerns about his intentions.

The actress detailed how she remained at the location for three days but was never actually included in any filming, despite being given a script to review.

“I stayed on the movie location for three days, but I didn’t partake in any movie, and he only gave me a movie script to read,” she said. “He lied to me that he was waiting for Mr. Latin and Odunlade Adekola, but I didn’t see any of them on the movie set.”

The absence of other prominent actors mentioned by the director appears to have been part of a pretense to keep her at the location while no actual production was taking place.

Taofeek revealed the situation culminated in an explicit demand from the director. “A movie director put me in a hotel and ordered me to undress so that we could have sex,” she stated bluntly during the interview.

The actress firmly rejected these advances, making it clear she had no romantic interest in the director. “I rejected his order, and I told him that I didn’t have any love feelings for him,” she explained.

According to Taofeek, her rejection had consequences: “He decided to punish me because I rejected his offer,” though she did not elaborate on the specific form this punishment took.

In a particularly revealing aspect of her account, Taofeek described how established industry figures helped her navigate the dangerous situation.

“I called actor Kunle Afod and Damola Olatunji on the phone, and they asked me to leave the movie location because those were the two people I could trust at that moment,” she said.

Industry watchdogs have long raised concerns about the vulnerability of aspiring actors and actresses to exploitation by those in positions of power, with many incidents going unreported due to fears of career repercussions.

While Taofeek did not name the director in question, her public account adds to growing documentation of harassment patterns within the industry.

Industry veteran Kunle Afod, whose advice helped Taofeek during her ordeal and on whose platform she shared her story, has previously advocated for better treatment of actors and safer working conditions within Nollywood
