Yoruba Nollywood actress Bukola Raji, also known as Aminatu Papapa, has opened up about the hard reality she endures as a married woman in the Nigerian film industry.
Speaking in a recent interview on Talk2Dunnis TV, Raji shed light on the challenges she encounters while trying to advance her career in Nollywood, revealing how her marital status has become a significant barrier to receiving professional support.
According to Raji, the entertainment industry, particularly Nollywood, often presents a difficult environment for married women. She described how many men in positions to offer assistance tend to expect something in return from the women they support.
Once they discover that a woman is married or unavailable for romantic involvement, the support quickly dries up.
Raji expressed that this dynamic has affected her directly, noting that certain individuals who had initially offered her help withdrew their promises after learning she was married and even pregnant for her husband.
The actress emphasized that her husband’s constant presence at her side has also triggered resentment among some individuals within the industry.

She noted that instead of offering encouragement or support, some people question why her husband accompanies her regularly, as though his involvement is an inconvenience to their interests.
This attitude, she suggested, stems from the inability of such individuals to exploit or manipulate her due to her committed marital relationship.
She said: “I’ve faced a lot of challenges in the Nollywood industry. However, I have faith in God that my helper will come at the time God has set. One of my challenges is that men no longer want to help me because I’m married. Some even get angry whenever I’m around my husband and questioned why he is always following me around. However, I don’t care about all of that because my husband remains the best, and if I ever come to this life again, I pray that he is the one I get married to. He is calm and understands me.”
she said, “I appreciate my husband, Lukman Raji a lot, and I will always choose him over anybody else. He has been very supportive of me, and he always tries his best to satisfy me. I used to say that I can’t date an actor, but I fell in love with my boss Lukman Raji. I got married to Lukman Raji, but he is my boss alongside Murphy Afolabi and actor Baraka.”
