Denmark striker Rasmus Højlund scored twice in Manchester United’s pre-season clash against Bournemouth in Chicago on Wednesday.
After the match, Højlund made it clear to reporters that he intends to stay at United, despite the club’s ongoing pursuit of RB Leipzig and Slovenia forward Benjamin Šeško.

However, the situation remains complex.

Newcastle United are also interested in Šeško but have yet to reach an agreement with Leipzig for the 22-year-old. Manchester United are monitoring developments and reportedly remain Šeško’s preferred destination.
While United insist they could secure a deal without needing to sell first, it’s understood that player departures would be necessary to remain within the Premier League’s profit and sustainability guidelines.
Should Šeško arrive, Højlund’s role would likely diminish. A potential £30 million sale of Højlund would represent a financial loss for United, with the striker currently valued at £43 million on the club’s books—two years into a five-year contract.
So far this summer, United have spent close to £130 million on Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
