Manchester United are reportedly lining up a €70 million (£61 million) bid to sign Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez, according to Spanish outlet Sport.

United boss Ruben Amorim is said to be a huge admirer of the 22-year-old and wants to bring him to Old Trafford ahead of the 2025–26 season. The club has already strengthened their attack this summer with the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, and are still in the market for a striker.

Fermin impressed for Barcelona last season, making 46 appearances across all competitions and contributing eight goals and 10 assists. Despite attracting interest from Chelsea, Arsenal, and clubs in the Saudi Pro League, the young Spaniard has consistently voiced his desire to remain at Camp Nou.
However, Barcelona’s ongoing financial struggles could force them to consider serious offers, with Sport suggesting that a €70 million bid from United could be enough to open negotiations.
Fermin is currently part of Spain’s squad for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Meanwhile, Manchester United remain frontrunners to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, even though Newcastle have reportedly met the Bundesliga side’s asking price. Amorim is believed to view the signing of a top striker as essential to his plans for a successful campaign.
