Manchester United are gearing up to open formal discussions with Brentford regarding a potential £60 million transfer for forward Bryan Mbeumo.

According to The Times, the Cameroon international is reportedly demanding a staggering £250,000 per week—five times his current £50,000 weekly wage at Brentford—if he completes the move to Old Trafford.

The 25-year-old has established himself as Brentford’s primary attacking threat since Ivan Toney’s departure, finishing the 2024/25 Premier League season with 20 goals and 7 assists in 38 appearances. His impressive form has attracted interest from several top clubs.
Fresh from securing Wolves striker Matheus Cunha, Manchester United view Mbeumo as a key piece in Ruben Amorim’s squad rebuild after a disappointing campaign that saw the club finish 15th in the Premier League.
However, accommodating Mbeumo’s wage demands presents a challenge. With star players Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford expected to depart this summer, United may free up the necessary salary space to meet the forward’s terms.
Newcastle United are also reported to be monitoring the situation, though Mbeumo is believed to favor a move to Manchester United.
While no official bid has been lodged yet, United are expected to enter direct negotiations with Brentford in the near future.
