Manchester United are reportedly preparing a bold move for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, following his standout performances in the Champions League.
The 26-year-old Italian earned widespread praise for his decisive display in PSG’s semi-final victory over Arsenal, with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta calling him the Parisians’ “best player” in their 3-1 aggregate win. Donnarumma’s crucial saves in the second leg added to an already impressive campaign, which included key contributions in earlier knockout rounds against Liverpool and Aston Villa.
With Donnarumma’s contract at PSG running until 2026, his future has come under fresh scrutiny, and both Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly monitoring his situation closely. According to TEAMtalk and Spanish outlet Fichajes, United manager Ruben Amorim is particularly keen and has urged the club to table a formal bid—potentially worth over €60 million (£51 million).

United’s interest comes amid ongoing concerns over current No.1 Andre Onana, who has been under fire for a string of costly errors since arriving from Inter Milan for £43 million in 2023. His recent blunders in the Europa League quarter-final against Lyon led to him being dropped for the following match against Newcastle.
Amorim addressed the decision, telling Sky Sports: “It is a normal thing. Sometimes, you have to push the player to play again, sometimes you have to let him disconnect a little bit.”
United’s pursuit of Donnarumma could hinge on the outcome of the upcoming Europa League final against Tottenham in Bilbao. A victory would not only deliver a much-needed trophy but also secure Champions League football—an important factor in attracting top-tier talent like Donnarumma.
