Bayer Leverkusen are preparing to step up their pursuit of Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah as discussions continue between the two clubs.
Talks between Leverkusen and Liverpool have primarily focused on the Reds’ £116 million move for Germany international Florian Wirtz, with the deal expected to be finalized by early next week following a scheduled medical.

Amid those negotiations, Leverkusen have maintained contact regarding Quansah. While Liverpool are not actively looking to offload the 22-year-old centre-back, limited first-team minutes last season may prompt the England squad member to consider a move abroad.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are monitoring Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi as a potential reinforcement in defence. Their level of interest, however, is believed to hinge on Palace’s valuation of the England international. Last summer, Palace rejected four bids from Newcastle, the final of which reached £65 million. With Guehi entering the final year of his contract, Liverpool could also explore a free transfer next summer if no deal is struck during this window.
There is also growing uncertainty surrounding the futures of Ibrahima Konaté and Joe Gomez. Konaté has just one year remaining on his current deal and is yet to agree an extension, adding to Liverpool’s potential defensive reshuffle.
