Popular Yoruba Nollywood actor and producer, Temitope Omosowon has talked candidly about the emotional trauma he went through at his wedding, divulging that he had to hire a father and other family members in order to satisfy social expectations.
Despite his efforts to create a respectable image for his wedding, he recounted being humiliated by his in-laws, leaving him with deep regrets over the marriage.
Speaking in an interview on Biola Adebayo’s YouTube channel, Omosowon disclosed that the woman who bore his child, Okiki, was the one he eventually married legally.
However, he described the marriage as a regrettable decision, stating that neither his wife nor her family lived up to his expectations. According to him, he wished he could retrieve the foodstuffs and yam he gave to his in-laws during the traditional wedding rites, as he believes they were unworthy of them.
The actor painted a picture of hostility and rejection from his wife’s family, stating that they were neither welcoming nor respectful. He claimed they ridiculed his background by calling him an orphan and even fabricated stories that he came from an orphanage.

These comments, he said, were not only painful but also showed their disdain for him despite his efforts to provide and plan a proper wedding ceremony.
Determined to go through with the ceremony and meet societal norms, Omosowon said he went as far as renting a father figure and other family members to present the image of a complete family on his big day.
Despite this, his in-laws allegedly continued to show disrespect, even attempting to start a fight during the wedding ceremony. To further complicate matters, they falsely claimed they had provided the outfit worn by his rented father, unaware that the man was not his real relative.
He said: “It was the woman who gave birth to Okiki (my child) that I married legally. I even had a wedding for her. However, I regret marrying my wife and wish I could collect back the yam and foodstuffs I gave her parents. She and her parents are not worthy of eating those foodstuffs. She is not wife material. Even her parents are not welcoming. They called me an orphan and even lied that I was from an orphanage. They thought I wouldn’t be able to afford the wedding, but I did. On that day, I even had to rent a father for my wedding, including some other family members. Even on my wedding day, they tried to fight my family and lied that they bought clothes for my father, not knowing that I had rented the man.”
