Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike has previously dropped a major hint about his career ambitions amid ongoing speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United.
With the summer transfer window in full swing, United continue to be linked with several attacking options. Ekitike is among the names on their radar, though the Red Devils could face competition from Premier League rivals including Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea.

United are actively seeking a new centre forward after missing out on Liam Delap, and the search has cast doubt over the futures of both Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund at Old Trafford.

While it’s unclear how serious United’s pursuit of Ekitike is, the 22-year-old has already spoken about his openness to leaving France—comments that date back to his time at Stade de Reims in 2022.
Before eventually joining Paris Saint-Germain that summer and later moving to Frankfurt in January of last year, Ekitike revealed in an interview with Le10 Sport that he had seriously considered a move abroad.
“I had an appointment with Luis [Campos], which meant a lot to me,” Ekitike said in July 2022. “It wasn’t that long ago. We talked a lot—he’s someone I respect deeply. I already wanted to come to PSG, but he convinced me even more.”
Ekitike also acknowledged Newcastle United’s efforts to sign him that year, saying: “I’m not ignoring everything Newcastle did to bring me in. If I had chosen to go abroad, I would have gone there. But when PSG want you—and you’re French—you can’t say no.”
With Premier League clubs circling again, those past remarks may provide insight into how Ekitike might view a future move to England.
