After 694 games, 447 goals, and 14 years at the top level, Harry Kane has finally won the first major team trophy of his professional career. Bayern Munich were crowned Bundesliga champions on Sunday, ending the England captain’s long wait for silverware.
Kane, suspended for Bayern’s Saturday clash with RB Leipzig due to a fifth yellow card, had to watch from the sidelines as his teammates were denied victory by a last-gasp equaliser. However, the title was secured the following day when Bayer Leverkusen drew 2-2 with Freiburg—clinching the championship for Bayern.

Reacting on social media, Kane initially kept things understated with a simple trophy emoji on X. But celebrations soon followed. In a video posted shortly after, Kane captured himself and his teammates singing Queen’s “We Are the Champions,” panning around to show Joshua Kimmich raising a glass of wine and Eric Dier celebrating with a beer. Kane, finally at peace with a medal to his name, leaned back with closed eyes, soaking in the long-awaited triumph.
His move to Bayern in 2023 was driven by an ambition to win trophies—something that eluded him despite a prolific spell at Tottenham and multiple near-misses in finals with both club and country.
“I want to be fighting for titles every year,” Kane said at his unveiling. “Coming to Bayern Munich gives me that opportunity.”
That journey was anything but straightforward. Kane’s Bayern debut ended in defeat to RB Leipzig in the DFL Supercup. Last season’s Bundesliga and German Cup titles were snatched away by an unbeaten Leverkusen side, who also knocked Bayern out of this year’s German Cup. Even Kane’s extraordinary scoring form—80 goals in 89 appearances—wasn’t enough to steer Bayern past Inter in the Champions League quarter-finals.
But now, after finishing runner-up in the Premier League, Champions League, Carabao Cup, and two European Championships, Kane finally has his hands on a major trophy—and the moment was worth the wait.
