Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has admitted that his first season in charge has been disappointing, even if they manage to win the Europa League.
Amorim has faced a challenging campaign, with United set to finish outside the top 10 in the Premier League for the first time in years. The team also exited both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in the early rounds.
Despite this, Amorim’s side has reached the semi-finals of the Europa League, where they will face Athletic Bilbao. However, the 40-year-old insists that winning the competition won’t “save” their season.

Speaking to reporters, Amorim said:
“Everyone knows how important this is for our season. Nothing will truly ‘save’ our season, but winning this could be huge. Securing a trophy and qualifying for the Champions League next year could change a lot, even for the summer.”
