New Manchester City signing Sverre Nypan has opened up following his official unveiling on Thursday, explaining why he chose the Premier League champions despite interest from several other clubs, including Arsenal.
The highly rated Norwegian midfielder admitted that the opportunity to work under Pep Guardiola was a major factor in his decision.

“I’m still very young and have a lot to learn, but the chance to be coached by Pep Guardiola — the best manager in the world — is something I couldn’t turn down,” Nypan said.

The 18-year-old was on the radar of multiple English clubs after impressing at Rosenborg, with Arsenal once believed to be leading the race, hoping to leverage the influence of Martin Ødegaard, Norway’s national team captain.
However, Nypan ultimately completed a £12.5 million move to the Etihad.
“There’s already a strong connection between Norway and Manchester City through Erling Haaland and Oscar Bobb,” he added. “I’m very proud to become the latest Norwegian to join this great club.”
