Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that he plans to take a break when he leaves the Premier League club, although he is uncertain whether he will retire from coaching altogether.
Guardiola, 54, is approaching his ninth year at City, marking the longest managerial tenure of his career. Before joining City, he spent four years at Barcelona and three years at Bayern Munich.
In 2023, Guardiola signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2027.

“I want people to remember me however they want,” Guardiola told ESPN Brasil. “After my contract with City, I’m going to stop. I’m sure of that. I don’t know if I’ll retire, but I will take a break. How I want to be remembered? I’m not sure.”
The City manager acknowledged that all coaches aim to be remembered for their successes, but emphasized that the enjoyment of the fans is what truly matters. “I believe the fans of Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and City had fun watching my teams play. We shouldn’t live thinking about whether we’ll be remembered,” he added.
