Chelsea, who last featured in the competition during the 2022/23 season, are also preparing for the Europa Conference League final under manager Enzo Maresca, where they will face Real Betis. A victory, or a sixth-place league finish, would secure Europa League qualification.

However, complications surrounding club ownership could derail their European hopes. Chelsea are owned by BlueCo, a consortium that also controls French club Strasbourg. With Strasbourg currently in a position to qualify for European competition—and potentially the Champions League—UEFA’s rules prohibiting multi-club ownership in the same competition come into play.
According to BBC Sport, BlueCo has been in discussions with UEFA since January, working toward a compliant ownership structure to avoid breaching these regulations.
