Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has described the club’s 4-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup semi-final as a “bitter end” to Luka Modric’s illustrious career with the Spanish giants.
PSG cruised to victory with goals from Fabián Ruiz, Ousmane Dembélé, and Gonçalo Ramos, eliminating Los Blancos in emphatic fashion.
Modric, who came off the bench during the match, was unable to influence the outcome in what turned out to be his final appearance in a Real Madrid shirt.

The 38-year-old Croatia captain is set to join AC Milan this summer, following Real Madrid’s decision not to extend his contract at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Reflecting on Modric’s farewell, Alonso said:
“Definitely, it’s a bitter end to Modric’s Real Madrid career.
Apart from that, he is a club legend. He is a football legend.
He is a great man and will be remembered forever in Madrid.”
