At least nine teams have now been knocked out of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, with Atletico Madrid among the most high-profile exits.
The LaLiga side needed a significant goal swing in their final Group B match against Botafogo but managed only a narrow 1-0 win on Monday, courtesy of a late strike from Antoine Griezmann with just three minutes remaining.

Atletico finish the group stage with four points, having previously suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain before beating Seattle Sounders 3-1. It wasn’t enough to see them through, as Botafogo and PSG advanced to the knockout rounds.
