Chelsea stars Reece James and Enzo Fernandez have revealed the toughest opponents they’ve faced in their careers — and both chose Real Madrid forwards.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Club World Cup semi-final clash against Fluminense on Tuesday, Fernandez named Kylian Mbappé as his most challenging opponent, while James pointed to Vinicius Jr.

Both players featured in Chelsea’s 2-1 quarter-final win over Palmeiras on Saturday and are key figures in Enzo Maresca’s squad.

When asked about the toughest player he has ever faced, Fernandez simply responded (via TouchlineX):
“Mbappé.”
James, on the other hand, replied:
“Vinicius Jr.”
Interestingly, if Chelsea overcome Fluminense and Real Madrid defeat Paris Saint-Germain in the other semi-final, all four players — Fernandez, James, Vinicius, and Mbappé — could go head-to-head in a blockbuster Club World Cup final.
