Dayo Amusa, a well-known Nollywood actress and filmmaker, has talked candidly about her experience becoming a mother, calling it the most rewarding and significant accomplishment of her life. Amusa discussed her challenges, victories, and the overwhelming delight of becoming a mother in an open conversation with her coworker Debbie Shokoya on the *Motherhood with Mummy K* program.
Amusa, who has faced numerous challenges in her personal life, expressed that despite past mistakes, motherhood is the one thing she feels she got right. “Motherhood is fulfillment. You kinda feel complete as a woman. That’s the definition of motherhood to me. Even while not complete, you get the feeling that you have done something for yourself. I have done so many wrong things in my life, but being a mother is the only thing I feel I have done right,” she shared.
Growing up in a loving and united family, Amusa always dreamed of having her own family. However, life did not go as planned. “I always dreamt of being with my husband and kids. I wanted it so badly, but I didn’t have it at the time I thought I would. But thank God, we are here,” she said.
Amusa revealed that her early years were dominated by ambition, as she focused intensely on her career. However, she later realized that her priorities could jeopardize her chance of having children. This realization became stark when she faced relationship challenges due to her struggles with conception. “I found myself in semi-marriages that failed because I was unable to conceive at the time, based on their expectations,” she disclosed.

Medical checkups revealed that Amusa had fibroids and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), which made conception difficult. She described this period as incredibly tough, as she grappled with health issues alongside societal and personal pressures.
Despite the hurdles, Amusa remains grateful for her journey, embracing motherhood with immense joy and fulfillment. Her story is a testament to resilience and the transformative power of motherhood.
