Last year’s winner was Manchester City’s Rodri, who edged out Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr. However, the Spain international may miss out on this year’s list due to a long-term injury that has sidelined him for nearly a season.
This year, players from PSG and Barcelona are expected to dominate the nominations, following both clubs’ impressive campaigns. PSG claimed the UEFA Champions League title among other trophies, while Barcelona secured a treble of the league, cup, and Super Cup in Spain.
Stars like Ousmane Dembélé, Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Mohamed Salah, Kylian Mbappé, and Robert Lewandowski are all widely expected to feature on the shortlist.
