Former Real Madrid star and Ballon d’Or winner, Luis Figo, has explained why he believes Kylian Mbappe may miss out on winning the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
Despite Mbappe’s impressive individual performances in his debut season at Real Madrid, the club failed to secure any major trophies, which Figo sees as a key factor.
Speaking to AS, Figo said:
“Things didn’t start smoothly for him, but he’s done well overall. He’s scored plenty of goals and has adapted to playing for Real Madrid, which is very different from any other team.”

However, he added, “What might count against him in the race for individual awards is the absence of major team titles. But we’ll see how it plays out.
“Mbappe is always among the best players in the world.”
