Liverpool striker Darwin Núñez has completed a move to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal in a deal worth up to £56.6m (€65m).
Al Hilal will pay a guaranteed £46.2m (€53m) plus add-ons for the 26-year-old, who leaves Anfield after scoring 40 goals in 143 appearances since joining from Benfica in 2022 for an initial £64m.
Núñez netted 18 goals in Jürgen Klopp’s final season but managed only seven last term under Arne Slot, though he did deliver two crucial stoppage-time strikes in a 2-0 win over Brentford in January.
The Uruguay international nearly left in the January transfer window after strong interest — including from Saudi Arabia — but Liverpool rejected approaches to focus on their push for a 20th league title.
This summer, Núñez and his representatives renewed their request to move. AC Milan showed interest but could not match Al Hilal’s offer, while Napoli’s bid was turned down due to a lower valuation and payment terms that would have delayed funds until summer 2026, spread over five years.
