Nollywood actor Raymond Solomon Akinlawon has opened up about the strained relationship between him and popular actor Odunlade Adekola, shedding light on a fallout that led to a noticeable distance between them.
In an interview featured on the official YouTube channel of Mtec TV, Akinlawon recounted events that contributed to their misunderstanding. He explained that their relationship began to deteriorate after Odunlade questioned him about the way he handled a sum of ₦500,000 that had been entrusted to him for a movie production.
According to Akinlawon, whenever Odunlade planned to shoot a movie, he would hand over the production funds to him, trusting him to manage all logistics, including paying cast members and covering other necessary expenses. On one occasion, Odunlade gave him a cheque to withdraw ₦500,000 from the bank. However, upon his return, Akinlawon was surprised when Odunlade instructed him to hand over the money to the son of veteran actor Yinka Quadri. Furthermore, Odunlade told him to start going through Yinka Quadri’s son for any future needs on set—an approach Akinlawon noted was very different from how things were handled between them in the past.

He said the real turning point came when Odunlade asked him to explain in detail how he spent the ₦500,000. That request, Akinlawon admitted, deeply hurt him. Feeling betrayed and distrusted, he chose to withdraw from the relationship. Although some older actors in the industry noticed the shift and sensed tension between the two, Akinlawon said he never explained the full story to anyone at the time.
