The moment quickly went viral, with some social media users accusing Ajao of being hypocritical. One lady even claimed the actress had previously been romantically linked to Odunlade, while others mocked her for holding a paper upside down as though she was reading it.
In response, Ajao took to her Instagram story on Tuesday, August 26, sharing a post directed at those spreading false stories about her. She wrote:
“Life hits differently when you stop trying to prove you didn’t say that, do that, or you’re not like that. You can’t fix every lie and every rumour, nor can you defend yourself every time something is said about you. Just be great.
People may destroy your image, stain your personality, but they can’t take away your good deeds because no matter how they describe you, you will still be admired by those who know you better.”
Ajao also posted a message she received from a fan, who encouraged her not to let the gossip affect her friendship with Odunlade.
The fan’s note read: “An average African doesn’t believe a man and a woman can have a perfect friendship or cohabit without any strings attached. It is too late for you to move away from Odunlade just because of the noise.”
