Arsenal Growing in Confidence Over Ethan Nwaneri Contract Talks
Arsenal are said to be “increasingly confident” of securing a long-term deal for teenage sensation Ethan Nwaneri, following a period of uncertainty surrounding his future.

The 18-year-old winger, whose current contract expires next summer, had been the subject of speculation amid reported interest from Chelsea. Negotiations were previously described as “delicate,” with Nwaneri’s camp seeking specific assurances before committing his future to the club.

However, relations have since improved, and according to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are now prepared to offer Nwaneri a five-year deal, or a four-year contract with an option for a further year. While a final agreement has yet to be reached, sporting director Andrea Berta remains “positive” about the direction of talks, and both parties are said to be keen on finding common ground.
Nwaneri has been part of the Arsenal setup since the age of eight. He made his Under-18 debut at just 14 and etched his name into the record books in September 2022 by becoming the youngest player in Premier League history — appearing against Brentford at 15 years and 181 days old. He broke a 58-year-old top-flight record and surpassed Cesc Fàbregas as Arsenal’s youngest-ever debutant by nearly a year.
Now 18, Nwaneri enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in 2024–25, making 37 appearances in all competitions and contributing 11 goals and assists combined. He featured prominently in early 2025, stepping in for the injured Bukayo Saka. Although his playing time dipped after Saka’s return, Nwaneri remains an important part of Mikel Arteta’s long-term plans.
