Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker has criticised Mason Mount, claiming there’s “nothing special” about the England international and questioning his impact since joining the Red Devils.
Speaking to Tribal Football, Parker expressed frustration over Mount’s lack of attacking presence, particularly his failure to make runs into the box—something Parker believes should be a core strength of his game.
“No one goes in the box anymore,” Parker said. “We signed Mason Mount for £55 million—just run into the box. You’re supposed to be a modern-day David Platt. That’s meant to be your strength!”

He continued:
“You’re not a great footballer as such—just someone who made a name at Chelsea by acting as a second striker in the box.”
Mount, who came through Chelsea’s academy, joined Manchester United two seasons ago but has struggled to make a significant impact amid the club’s inconsistent performances.
Parker concluded by saying Mount must improve next season or consider leaving the club.
