Nigeria finished the first round of group matches at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations as leaders of Group B.

This comes after Algeria secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Botswana on Sunday, courtesy of a 10th-minute strike from Ghoutia Karchouni.

Algeria will now face Tunisia in their next group fixture on July 10. The Tunisians were comfortably beaten 3-0 by a dominant Super Falcons side earlier in the day.

Goals from Asisat Oshoala, Rinsola Babajide, and Chiwendu Ihezuo sealed the win for the reigning nine-time champions.

Following Sunday’s results, Nigeria and Algeria both have three points, but the Falcons sit top thanks to their superior goal difference. Botswana are third, while Tunisia remain bottom of the group.
