Liverpool have turned down a formal approach from Bayern Munich for Colombian forward Luis Díaz, reinforcing their stance that the player is not for sale.
Bayern’s director of sport, Max Eberl, was informed that the Premier League champions have no interest in entering negotiations for the 28-year-old. This marks the second time this summer Liverpool have rebuffed interest in Díaz, having already dismissed a similar enquiry from Barcelona.
Since joining Liverpool from FC Porto in January 2022, Díaz has become a key figure at Anfield. He was instrumental in the club’s title-winning campaign under Arne Slot last season, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists in the Premier League alone. In total, he registered 22 goals for club and country during the season.
Díaz still has two years remaining on his contract, and despite attracting attention from Manchester City last summer and continued interest from Saudi Arabia, Liverpool remain firm in their decision to keep him.
Speaking while on international duty earlier this summer, Díaz addressed the speculation:
> “I’m very happy at Liverpool – I’ve always said so. The transfer market is opening, and we’re trying to arrange what’s best for us. I’m waiting to see what happens.
“If Liverpool give us a good extension or I have to see out my two-year contract, I’ll be happy. It all depends on them. I’m here to decide and see what’s best for us and the future.”
