The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will officially unveil a new trophy for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Wednesday, according to DAILY POST.
The launch will take place in Morocco, the host nation for this year’s edition of the biennial tournament.

CAF president Patrice Motsepe, who has repeatedly pledged to elevate women’s football across the continent, sees the new trophy as part of his broader vision to grow the game in Africa.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have dominated the tournament historically, lifting the previous trophy nine times. Equatorial Guinea have won it twice, while current holders South Africa’s Banyana Banyana claimed their first title in the last edition.
WAFCON 2024 will run from Saturday, July 5 to Saturday, July 26, with hosts Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses facing Zambia’s Copper Queens in the tournament opener.
