Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has confirmed his goalkeeper hierarchy at Stamford Bridge, even as the club remains linked with AC Milan’s Mike Maignan.

Last week, Chelsea approached Milan over a potential move for the French international, who is yet to sign a contract extension with the Serie A side. Maignan has long been on Chelsea’s radar, but negotiations hit a roadblock as the Blues were unwilling to meet Milan’s valuation.

The deal stalled ahead of the Club World Cup, with Chelsea reportedly unwilling to pay a premium often dubbed the “Club World Cup tax.” While a future move remains possible, Chelsea are currently putting their faith in their existing options.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Sunday, Maresca laid out his current pecking order in goal. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Italian boss said:

“Robert Sánchez is No. 1, and then Filip Jorgensen is No. 2.
Mike Penders has joined us, and we’ll make a final decision soon.”

Despite transfer links, Maresca’s statement suggests Chelsea are prepared to start the season without Maignan, relying instead on Sánchez, Jorgensen, and promising talents like Đorđe Petrović and Penders.

Maresca also confirmed the club will move to sign a new winger following the departure of Jadon Sancho, who has returned to Manchester United after his season-long loan.

“A new winger? Something will happen for sure.
Jadon Sancho has left, so we only have three proper wingers now,” he added.

Chelsea’s summer rebuild continues under Maresca, with more changes expected before the transfer window closes.
