Ademola Lookman has revealed that his decision to switch international allegiance from England to Nigeria has been a defining moment in his career.

The 27-year-old Atalanta winger was born in England to Nigerian parents and represented England at U-19, U-20, and U-21 levels. However, he made his senior debut for Nigeria in 2022 during a high-profile clash against their long-standing rivals, Ghana’s Black Stars.

Since committing to the Super Eagles, Lookman has made a significant impact, scoring three goals and providing one assist as Nigeria finished as runners-up at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire. His performances earned him the prestigious title of Africa’s Best Player at an awards ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco last December.
“Without doubt, it changed my career and my life,” Lookman told ARISE TV.
“People know that. This is my home. This is my place. I enjoy it here. I am the son of the soil.”
