As Luka Modric prepares to depart Real Madrid at the end of the season, the club legend has singled out the 3-1 second-leg victory over PSG in the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League Round of 16 as his standout moment.
Modric played his final La Liga game for Real Madrid on Saturday against Real Sociedad, helping the team to a 2-0 win — a fitting farewell ahead of his departure following the Club World Cup this summer.

Speaking to the media after the match, Modric was asked which game he would remember most from his time at the Santiago Bernabeu. He replied, “One game to remember? Difficult, but I’d say the match against PSG. That was incredible. I always said we would have won the Champions League if we had won that tie.”

In the first leg at Parc des Princes, PSG took a 1-0 lead thanks to Kylian Mbappe. Mbappe struck again early in the second leg at the Bernabeu, putting PSG 2-0 up on aggregate.
However, Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema responded with a stunning second-half hat-trick in just 17 minutes, completing one of the greatest comebacks in Champions League history.
Real Madrid advanced 3-2 on aggregate and went on to win the tournament that season — a moment Modric clearly holds close to his heart.
