Newcastle Urged to Go ‘All Out’ for £54m Signing as Manchester United Circle

Manchester United have entered the race for one of Newcastle United’s top summer targets, Bryan Mbeumo, prompting fans of the Magpies to call on their club to act decisively to secure the Brentford star’s signature.

The 24-year-old winger is expected to leave Brentford at the end of the season after a standout campaign in which he has racked up at least 19 league goals and eight assists. With one game left, clubs across the Premier League are watching closely to see if he can boost those numbers even further.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe and the club’s recruitment team have reportedly tracked Mbeumo for some time, viewing him as a strong addition to their attacking options. However, Manchester United—reeling from a disappointing season—are now said to be preparing a move of their own. Despite Mbeumo having just a year left on his contract, Brentford are expected to demand around £54 million for the Cameroon international.

In response, Newcastle supporters in the Chronicle Live comments section have made it clear they believe Mbeumo is a player worth fighting for.

“You know exactly what you’re getting with Mbeumo,” wrote DurbanSkyslot. “He’s an all-action, battle-hardened player ready to slot straight in. The only concern is his AFCON duty, which would sideline him for a few weeks.”

N Shields Lad added: “Man U may have signed Cunha from Wolves, but the Toon should act now. Mbeumo is a proven Premier League player who’d slot right in. Don’t hesitate—go get him.”

Axepete questioned Newcastle’s spending priorities: “We were ready to spend £65 million on Guehi, yet Mbeumo could be bought for over £10 million less. He should be our top priority.”

Meanwhile, DM TOONY urged: “Go all out. Sell Murphy if needed and put the funds toward Mbeumo. Show real ambition—COME ON THE TOON.”

Some fans are skeptical, however. MOMAG voiced doubts over Mbeumo’s long-term impact: “I’m not convinced. He reminds me too much of Saint-Maximin. I’d rather we tried for someone like Jarrod Bowen, who’s more versatile and a better fit.”

Kmac shared a lukewarm view but took a dig at United’s current state: “Not a huge admirer. But honestly, who wants to go to Manchester United right now?”

With both clubs preparing for major summer rebuilds, the race for Mbeumo could become one of the most closely watched transfer battles in the coming weeks.
