The Premier League has announced the eight-player shortlist for the 2024/25 Young Player of the Season award.

The annual accolade, introduced in the 2019/20 season, is open to players who began the campaign aged 23 or younger. Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold was the inaugural winner, while last season’s honour went to Chelsea’s Cole Palmer. The Blues star now has the chance to become just the second player—after Phil Foden in 2020/21 and 2021/22—to win the award in consecutive years.

2024/25 Young Player of the Season Nominees

  • Liam Delap (Ipswich Town)
Despite Ipswich’s relegation, Delap impressed with 12 goals in his debut top-flight season. The young striker is the first-ever nominee from a relegated team and has drawn attention from several top clubs.
  • Anthony Elanga (Nottingham Forest)
The Forest winger delivered 10 assists and six goals, cementing himself as one of the league’s most creative young threats and continuing the club’s strong presence across this year’s award shortlists.
  • Ryan Gravenberch (Liverpool)
Also nominated for Player of the Season, Gravenberch has been a key figure in Liverpool’s title-winning midfield. Reinvented in a deeper role under Arne Slot, the Dutchman has shown maturity and consistency beyond his years.
  • Dean Huijsen (Bournemouth)
The 20-year-old centre-back has enjoyed a stellar debut season, with a move to Real Madrid reportedly close. His defensive dominance and composure have been standout features of Bournemouth’s campaign.
  • Cole Palmer (Chelsea)
Last year’s winner, Palmer followed up with another strong season, scoring 15 goals and providing eight assists. He ranks second in the league for chances created, behind only Bruno Fernandes.
  • Joao Pedro (Brighton & Hove Albion)
A reliable goalscorer and creator, Pedro has elevated his game this season. His clinical penalty-taking and versatility in attack have earned him growing recognition and a hefty market value.
  • Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa)
Now an England international, Rogers has blossomed under Unai Emery. With eight goals and nine assists, the dynamic midfielder is pushing to hit double digits in both categories by season’s end.
  • William Saliba (Arsenal)
A mainstay in Arsenal’s backline, Saliba has led the Premier League’s best defence this season. With 12 clean sheets and an impressive 79.5% success rate in one-on-one duels, he continues to prove himself among the elite.
