Man Utd to Decide on Ruben Amorim’s Future Before Europa League Final

Manchester United reportedly have no plans to dismiss head coach Ruben Amorim this summer, even if he fails to secure victory in the Europa League final.

Amorim, who was appointed in November to address the mess left by former manager Erik ten Hag, has found himself in an unexpected situation. United currently sit 16th in the Premier League, but a win over fellow strugglers Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final could restore some credibility and secure a spot in next season’s Champions League.

The 39-year-old coach has admitted feeling “embarrassed” by the club’s current form and hinted at a potential departure this summer, emphasizing the need for change at United. However, club officials remain firmly behind Amorim. According to The Guardian, United’s decision-makers are committed to supporting the coach and recognize the necessity of signing players who fit his preferred tactical system.

Amorim has voiced concerns over the current squad’s ability to execute his 3-4-2-1 formation, and United are sympathetic to these issues. Even if the team falls short in the Europa League final and misses out on the financial boost of Champions League qualification, the club plans to strengthen the squad to meet Amorim’s needs.

The signings United make will depend on their budget, but plans are already in place to trigger the £62.5m release clause of Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha, regardless of the outcome of the European final. Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, who has a £30m release clause, is another key target. Amorim is also seeking upgrades in goal and at wing-back.

Further attacking reinforcements could follow, particularly if United manage to raise funds through player sales. Fringed players such as Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho could potentially be sold, with Southampton’s Tyler Dibling, valued at around £100m, emerging as a possible target.
