The late Baba Olofaina’s third wife, Modinat Aderemi, recently talked about her first visit to his house and acknowledged that she was first afraid but chose to accompany her companions.
In an interview on Kunle Afod’s YouTube channel, Modinat described her early interactions with Baba Olofaina, revealing how she was introduced to him and how their relationship developed over time.
Modinat, who was then selling cloth at Oja Oba, had frequent encounters with Baba Olofaina as he often drove by her stall. Despite the noticeable age difference between them and Baba’s established marital status, she found herself drawn to him as he would stop to greet her during his visits.
At first, Modinat’s friends were not fond of the older man, concerned about the age gap and his existing marriage. Nevertheless, Baba Olofaina continued to show interest, often taking her and her friends to the mall and organizing outings to watch stage plays at Mopo.
After some time, Baba Olofaina invited Modinat to visit him at his house. The idea of visiting alone made Modinat nervous, as she was unsure of what to expect, especially given the tension around Baba’s previous relationships.

Feeling uneasy, she decided to bring her friends along for support, which eased her fear. However, when she arrived at his home, she was surprised to find that Baba’s first wife, who she initially mistook for a friendly acquaintance, was already there.
The first wife entertained her with kindness and did not reveal her true relationship with Baba. This interaction left Modinat somewhat confused, but she continued to visit Baba’s house, gradually forming a deeper connection with him.
She said; “I used to sell cloth at Oja Oba. Anytime he was driving around that area, he’d stop to greet me. However, my friends didn’t like him because he is older than me and also married. Despite that, he’ll take us to the mall to watch stage plays, even at Mopo just to make me and my friends happy. Later, he told me to come visit him in his house but I was scared of him taking advantage of me. So I went along with my friends. When we got there, I met a woman. I didn’t know it was his first wife and she didn’t tell me anything. She just entertained me and was nice to me. From there, I started going to his place frequently with my friends until he started showing funny attitudes because he wanted me to come alone.”
