Real Madrid will face Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final on Saturday without David Alaba and Eduardo Camavinga, both of whom are sidelined with injuries.

The absences could pose a challenge at left-back, particularly with Barcelona’s star Lamine Yamal to contend with, as both Alaba and Camavinga had been used in that position this season.

Both players sustained injuries during Wednesday night’s 1-0 win over Getafe. After the match, Carlo Ancelotti admitted it would be “difficult” for them to feature in the Copa del Rey final, confirming that Camavinga would require a more detailed medical assessment on Thursday.

The club later confirmed a concerning diagnosis for the Frenchman: a “complete tear of his left adductor tendon.” Recovery from such an injury can take anywhere from four to 16 weeks, depending on severity, with a full tear suggesting a longer recovery period.

Given the severity of the injury, it seems unlikely that Camavinga will feature in any more La Liga matches this season, with Madrid’s final fixture scheduled for May 25. His availability for the revamped FIFA Club World Cup in mid-June also remains uncertain.

In the short term, Fran Garcia is expected to fill in at left-back for the final. The 25-year-old, re-signed as a squad player last summer, has yet to be trusted in some of the club’s biggest matches, with Alaba being preferred in recent high-profile games such as those against Arsenal.
