Liverpool could face stiff competition in their pursuit of long-term left-back target Milos Kerkez.
The Reds are on the lookout for a successor to Andrew Robertson, who recently turned 31 and is no longer at the peak of his powers, despite once being considered one of the best full-backs in the world.

Kerkez has caught the eye with his performances for Bournemouth since joining from Dutch club AZ in 2023, enjoying a breakout season in 2024/25. Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes, who brought Kerkez to Bournemouth, could give the Reds an advantage in the race for the 20-year-old this summer. However, Sky Sports reports that both Real Madrid and Manchester City have emerged as potential rivals for his signature.
Madrid, having missed out on their primary left-back target Alphonso Davies, are seeking reinforcements after their left-back issues were exposed by Arsenal and Bukayo Saka in the Champions League. With Ferland Mendy struggling with fitness and Fran Garcia not trusted for the biggest matches, Kerkez could be a key target.
Similarly, City’s full-back depth has been tested this season, with injuries forcing Josko Gvardiol to play centrally and attacking midfielder Nico O’Reilly stepping in. Additionally, Kyle Walker’s absence in January saw Matheus Nunes fill in. City had been linked with Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso, but he’s now more likely to stay in Italy.
While Liverpool have secured two-year contract extensions for Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, the squad is still in need of a refresh. The team set to lift this season’s Premier League title was built primarily for Jurgen Klopp, and with no significant signings last summer, Arne Slot’s squad will need to strengthen ahead of the next campaign.
