Tennis legend Rafael Nadal has stated that he doesn’t miss the sport.

On Monday, Nadal was presented with the Sporting Icon award at the Laureus World Sport Awards in Madrid.

Throughout his career, the 38-year-old won 22 Grand Slam titles, including an impressive 14 at Roland Garros.

Nadal officially retired in November after his final match at the Davis Cup in Malaga.

“The truth is, I don’t miss tennis. Not at all,” Nadal told reporters. “But it’s not because I finished on bad terms with tennis or grew tired of it—quite the opposite.”

“I ended my career content, and if I could have continued, I would have, because it was my passion. It always has been. It’s just that when you reach a point where your body can no longer keep up… you have to close that chapter. And I have.”
